Before leaving
Plan from your actual starting point
For a child or teenager, choose a day that does not add avoidable school or exam pressure. Bring concise observations from home and, when relevant, school—such as sleep, attendance, concentration, friendships or sudden behaviour changes. Avoid discussing the young person as if they are not present. For an adult, decide who can provide history while still respecting the patient's voice and privacy.
